GSGP Renewables Lda

GSGP RENEWABLES LDA – TOWARDS A GREENER FUTURE

In 2020, the Group decided to explore a new growth sector – Renewable Energy and Edible Oils. A relatively new and highly fragmented industry, this business segment fits our focused niche business model perfectly. The aspiration of GSGPRW is to become a waste-to-energy renewable company.

We will bring our strength in global partnerships, experienced operations capability, good banking support, integrity and reliable business services to both our supply and demand side clients in order to add value for everyone along the transaction chain.
GSGP Renewables Lda is proposing to set up a production plant for biofuel from used cooking oil and crude soy oil in Timor Leste. Formed with the intention to commence the production of biofuel for local consumption and ultimately to export to other end users in the Asia Pacific markets, GSGPRW will launch a collection campaign to encourage the households of the country to send their used cooking oil to our collection centers to be established across Dili and subsequently in the districts. In addition, we intend to enter into long term contracts with F&B, Hospitality and Feedmill companies to collect their oils for recycling.

GSGP TRADING AND CONSULTANTS PTE LTD

GSGP Trading and Consultants Pte Ltd is the petroleum trading arm of our group of companies, registered and domiciled in Singapore since 15th Jan 2018. The firm has consulting, agency, and trading relationships with established Petroleum industry counterparts like Mercuria, Vitol, Trafigura, PT Pertamina, and Pertamina International Timor Leste, Sinopec HK, Heng Yuan Refinery, Mena Energy DMCC, Union International Trading, etc.
We have facilitated more than 50 deliveries to Pertamina Timor Leste since 2018 and have sold Light Cycle Oil into China from Singapore and Malaysia. In addition, we have made multiple deliveries of bitumen to Chinese state-owned construction firms based in Timor, such as China Harbour Construction, Shanghai Construction, Chongqing International Construction, etc.
GSGP Trading and Consultants, not only functions as the international procurement and trading arm for our business operations in Timor Leste; it’s also the centre for our all our derivatives and physical supply of petroleum related products, trade finance and treasury functions, strategic business planning and market development, HR management, and overall operations command centre for the Group.

ALPINE RENEWABLES AND EDIBLE OILS (Singapore) (alpine-renewables.com)

Alpine Renewables and Edible Oils Pte Ltd, incorporated in 2020, to focus on renewable fuels like the recycling and trading of ISCC certified used cooking oil, purchase and sale of palm and seed related bio-fuels, ethanol trading, POME, palm kernel shells, and the expansion into hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO). The production of biofuel feeds seamlessly into our retail stations and wholesale supply chain.
With the advent of Renewable Energy Directives (RED and RED(II)) – there is a global requirement and awareness that the continued use of fossil fuels without proper management of renewables energy is not sustainable. In May 2021, Alpine Renewables Singapore received our ISCC certificates.
In the short time since we started this venture, a lot of progress has been made in our marketing of Used Cooking Oil and POME into the high demand markets in Europe and intermediate processing plants from China. These arrangements will continue to expand and grow with the wider and more stringent implementation of worldwide renewable energy initiatives in the years to come.

PT ALPINE RENEWABLES COMMODITIES - Indonesia

One of our most exciting expansion is the setting up of PT Alpine Renewables Commodities in Indonesia in 2021. This company focuses primarily on Palm oil Mill Effluent (POME), also referred to as Palm Acid Oil. This material is mill waste and is considered one of the most acceptable and sustainable feedstock for biodiesel by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) organization.
Our plans will kick off in Sumatra, with a long-term tankage lease in Belawan of 3500 cubic meters of space – enabling us to function effectively as an ISCC certified storage and collecting point entity. We are very excited to be working closely with representatives from PT Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) as well as our local partner and director, Mr Decardo Saiful of PT Golden Oilindo Nusantara.
PT Alpine Renewables Commodities is a wholly own subsidiary of Alpine Renewables and Edible Oils Pte Ltd (Singapore) thereby enabling our trade finance and banking facilities, global network of client registration, and operational experience to be fully integrated between both offices.
As a group, we view this as our first of many steps in the expansion efforts into Indonesia’s renewable energy sector with much more exciting projects ahead in the years ahead.

GSGP RENEWABLES LDA

In the drive to move Timor Leste towards a greener future, GSGP Renewables Lda intends to start a biofuel fuel manufacturing plant in Liquica. Located with Global Oil Storage Terminal, the plant shall convert used cooking oil and other renewable materials, such as crude soy oil and waste coconut oil, into biofuel for local consumption. As a start-up, we believe the volume of production will be modest. However, all journeys start with the first initial steps. We intend to lobby the relevant departments for support of this initiative across the country.
Our experience and success in this sector is reflected in our operations in Indonesia. We are currently one of the leading players in the renewable materials sector in Indonesia. With storage capacity of more than 30,000 cbm in Belawan, Palembang and Banteng. The materials are exported to refineries worldwide for the production of biofuels. In addition, we are also starting a pre-treatment plant in Langsat, Johor. This plant will prepare feedstock collected for conversion into biofuel in oil refineries.
In Timor Leste, we intend to rally the restaurants and other sources for their used cooking oils and convert these waste oils to usable biofuels for local consumption. The processing plant will be able to produce up to 4,000L of biofuel per month.
The production of biofuel will also be of assistance to Tibar Port. Based on international practice, it will be mandatory for ocean going vessels to utilise biofuel blended bunker by 2025. Without this, the Tibar Port will not be able to function at its full capacity.
The technology of biofuel production will be from the USA. Depending on the volume of raw materials collected, we will be able to produce up to 4,000L of biofuel monthly. If the demand requires, we can import raw materials from West Timor. Logistically, collection points will be set up in various locations in Dili and certain districts. We will encourage local partners to collect and deliver the used cooking oils to our processing plant in Liquica.

Feedstock

The key feedstock that GSGPR will utilise UCO to produce biofuel. The biggest challenges that we will face in Timor Leste is the lack of volume as well as the logistics of centralised collection.
We started a pilot programme to collect UCO from Timor Plaza in 2020 to collect data on the volume of UCO available over a period of time. The data showed a daily collection of less than 100 litres. As such, we must expand our collection coverage to include residential as well as F&B outlets outside of Timor Plaza.
In addition, we are arranging to be the exclusive offtake of crude soy oil from XXXX Lda. This source shall serve as the foundation of our feedstock in the production process.
The Biopro 380 is a biofuel production plant, designed and manufactured in the USA.

Collection of Used Cooking Oil (UCO)

Objective

Currently, used cooking oils are disposed off in Tibar. However, in the course of our feasibility research, we found that most of the local restaurants are disposing UCO directly into the drainage system. As a result, the drainage and sewage systems become choked and blocked, causing operational issues as well as environmental damage.

It is also to be noted that the disposal service in Tibar is chargeable.

Therefore, we hope to work with Hotels, Restaurants and Cafes to start UCO collection across Dili. This will allow the waste oils to be handled in an environmentally friendly manner, allowing the waste to be Recycled and Reused.
